Project Description

Renovating a 70-square-metre standing area for turning lathes within two days and restoring it to a condition that is fully load-bearing to meet production requirements is a demanding task. At Loosen Werkzeug GmbH in Klausen (Moseleifel), experts of Estrich Schlag managed to master this task – in fact, by implementing an innovative manufacturing process: the volumetric mixing technology for fast-setting concrete.

For larger-scale industrial flooring, Korodur increasingly relies on the rapid-setting screed binder FSCem, which is predestined for low-shrinkage surfaces. The most significant material property required for the Klausen project was compressive strength. Time constraints have played a significant role in this project, too. So the choice has fallen on the innovative fast-setting KOROCRETE system delivered by the concrete supplier Mörtel Mich GmbH.
First the defective tiles and screed surfaces had to be removed on the previous day by means of shot blasting, subsequently the subsoil was saturated. Next morning at about 8.45 am the installation of the floor was started by applying the bonding agent (HB 5 rapid) in thin layers. By about 10 am, spreading and trowelling of the KOROCRETE concrete layer had already been completed, and subsequently the surface was smoothed mechanically in several work steps. By about 1 pm on the same day, this work step had also been completed, and the surface was covered with a foil for the purpose of after-treatment in order to protect the fresh concrete from external influences.
Concrete work completed within in a single morning!
