Project Description

The historic quarter of Esslingen with its timber-framed houses, churches, paved alleys, streets and squares is absolutely worth seeing. However, the preservation of historic paths and streets with cobblestones often also mean
bumpy roads for people using walkers, wheelchairs or strollers. The city of Esslingen sees it as her duty to be as supportive as possible to her residents – to make the city a place where everyone feels at home.

Therefore, in the progress of redeveloping the old town center, the company Blessing GmbH was contracted to re-design road intersections to make them barrier-free accessible. The renovation procedure is based on a special method developed by KORODUR and Blessing. The old joint material is removed, and the paved areas cleaned. Then the paving areas are grouted with the multipurpose Rapid Set fast-setting repair MORTAR MIX. After just 2 hours, the newly grouted areas are ready for being mechanically milled to level them barrier-free.

The MORTAR-MIX renovation system for barrier-free pavement design is easy, saves time and costs. The historic paving is preserved, unevenness is evened out and noise emissions are significantly reduced. MORTAR MIX not only contributes to improve traffic safety, but it also sustainably protects the environment by providing longer service life and reduced CO2 emissions thanks to the use of climate-friendly raw materials.
