For years already, the design of intersections as roundabouts has been enjoying increasing popularity in Germany. This also applies to the roundabout in Hohenstaufenstrasse in Göppingen. This traffic circle was designed with two lanes. The outer lane was asphalted, the inner lane was paved with large paving stones. As the paved lane appeared to be elevated, it was not accepted as a driving lane by many road users. As a result, there were an increasing number of tight and critical traffic situations, especially at entrances and exits.
To improve traffic safety, the specialist company Blessing was assigned to align the paved area to the asphalt level. The renovation is based on a special method developed by Blessing and KORODUR. In a specialized, sustainable procedure, the existing pavement is newly grouted with MORTAR MIX Rapid Set repair mortar, which allows mechanical milling after only 2 hours. The high-strength, multipurpose MORTAR MIX repair mortar contributes to road safety, provides fast usability and long service life, and in addition levels unevenness, impedes shifting of pavers and significantly reduces noise emissions.
