Bahía de Kino is a town in the Mexican state Sonora, on the shores of the Sea of Cortez (Gulf of California). A seaside residence was built entirely of concrete on a 6.500 m² lot. The TRU GRAY mineral decorative flooring perfectly matches the concrete ambience.
First of all, cracks in the subgrade had to be closed. A synthetic fabric was laid over a large area of the cracks and covered with epoxy resin. Concrete nails were used to fix the fabric strips (this method was easier and quicker than the usual method of fixing with a glue gun).
On the first floor, most surfaces were coated with TRU GRAY. Considering the high ambient temperatures and the still missing windows, the window openings had to be covered with plastic sheeting prior to the installation, and the rooms had to be cooled using air conditioning. The main concern was that the cracks in the subgrade would reappear later. However, the combined effects of synthetic fabric, epoxy resin and TRU GRAY, together with the afore described measures, proved this concern to be unfounded. The TRU surfaces in polished finish have an excellent appearance, as the pictures show.
