In Bad Hersfeld, on 3 November 2008, the foundation-stone for the new Amazon Logistic Center was laid. The US-business trust Amazon established a logistic center in the gigantic size of 15 soccer fields! On an area of approx. 100.000 m² a mega hall was established, which is so large that therein all soccer matches of the German “Bundesliga” could take place at the same time on a Saturday. Not unimportant in this context, Amazon provided more than 2.500 new work places in the area of Bad Hersfeld.
Considering the expected high stress demands and the wish to have an almost joint-less industrial floor, the builder owner and the planner decided for a steel fiber-reinforced concrete as basis for the new logistic center. Maximum field size is 36 x 36 m. To ensure a smooth non-stop use the fiber-reinforced concrete was coated with the NEODUR hard aggregate dry mortar, increasing the wear resistance of the flooring surface.
The daily installation performance was an area of around 3.000 m² industrial floor, whereby per 500 m³ concrete approx. 17,5 tons steel fibers were processed. The most part of the logistics center was carried out with
NEODUR HE 3 cement-grey, special areas of incoming/outgoing goods with NEODUR HE 3 red.
The Amazon Logistics Center Bad Hersfeld counts among the largest industrial projects realized in Germany in 2009.
