The beach chairs in Wenningstedt on Sylt are more than just a shelter from wind and weather, they are a gathering place for families on the beach, a retreat for relaxing and a place for wonderful sundowners.
In a devastating fire in winter 2014, the Wenningstedt beach chair hall was completely destroyed and around 1300 beach chairs went up in flames with it. While the beach furniture could already be replaced at the beginning of the 2015 summer season, its new storage hall could only be completed at the end of the year after a 4 months construction period.
The new hall with a usable area of around 2,200 m² was built as a steel frame structure with a steel fibre concrete floor. As wearing layer, a heavy-duty KORODUR industrial floor was installed, i.e. NEODUR HE 65 in combination with the bonding compound KORODUR HB 5. The installation of NEODUR HE 65 was carried out with the KORODUR silo system, a highly economical and rational working technique including adequate mixing and pumping technology.
In this new beach chair storage, the baskets are well protected from winter weather conditions until next spring on the Island of Sylt.
