The district of Esslingen advertises in its brochure “Enjoying leisure time and experiencing barrier-free accessibility”. It is often the “little” things that do not allow equal participation – whether it is the non-barrier-free platform, the non-existent disabled toilet or uneven cobblestones. The issue of barrier-free accessibility comes more and more into focus.
The municipality of Lenningen realized the need and acted.
First, the routing of the barrier-free distance through the community was defined. Then the uneven cobblestone surfaces were worked on. The existing joint mortar was removed to a depth of more than 30 mm using a high-pressure cleaner (> 300 bar) and replaced by a new joint filler – the multipurpose KORODUR repair mortar, Rapid Set MORTAR MIX. The surfaces were cleaned and only one day later levelled barrier-free by means of a special, patented milling machine. Conventional grouting does not allow such short procedures. The fast-setting and high-strength Rapid Set Repair mortars, however, are designed for fast working techniques involving only short shut-down times – thus an economic advantage.
Not only the elderly and wheelchair users, but the whole community of Lenningen is highly satisfied with the result.
