The Donaukanal Strasse, a 4-lane bi-directional traffic route in Vienna runs along the Danube Canal and connects the city center of Vienna with the north bridge in the north and the Prater junction in the south.
In May 2019, the contractor Mörtinger installed on this busy road a small test area (patch) using the DOT Europe CONCRETE MIX of the KORODUR product line. DOT Europe CONCRETE MIX is a high-performance, polymer-modified, fast-setting, fiber-reinforced repair concrete based on special cement technology.
After one year of exposure to heavy and intense traffic, the area was undamaged, no cracks, breakouts, or cavities. Given this positive result, a partial repair of the Donaukanal Strasse was decided.
Virtually overnight in a tight time window, 15 patches over a distance of approx. 500 – 700 m were filled in a layer thickness of 5 to 10 cm. Only a few hours later the road was re-opened to traffic. The following night, further patches were filled with this product.
The work team milled, chiseled, and cleaned the patches, mixed, and installed the material. For smoothing, a fine water mist was applied on the surface. Final curing only with water. This multipurpose repair concrete completely convinced all parties involved. DOT Europe CONCRETE MIX is not only fast and easy to process, it also features reduced CO2 emissions.
