The French food group Naturex AG is producing world-wide a broad variety of food ingredients for renowned customers. Naturex AG had to repair the cold spray tower in their production site in Burgdorf, Switzerland. For the complete renovation of this 80 meter high tower, the time window was limited to three weeks only. The flooring area of approx. 200 m² had to be taken out and re-laid in just one week, this including a final food resistant and food-compatible PU coating. Of course, this made the whole repair to a highly challenging project – not only with regard to the very short time but also to the technically very demanding application process.
Therefore, for the intermediate screed the high-strength and fast setting product CONCRETE MIX was used which allowed the application of the specified PU-coating in only 16 hours. During the time of application the temperature inside the tower was > 30°C. Consequently, the retarder SET Control was added to CONCRETE MIX, allowing an extension of the processing time by half an hour.

Considering the size of the project and the tight schedule – only one day for the placing of the intermediate screed – the material CONCRETE MIX was supplied to site in big bags and mixed in a system that actually serves only for agricultural purposes. The transportation of the mix to the repair area took place in concrete buggies.
Both, the French installer SIB and the planning engineer Projagro were deeply impressed by the high performance and setting speed of the product CONCRETE MIX. They want to use the Rapid Set repair products also for future projects.
Also the owner Naturex AG was highly satisfied that only after 3 weeks they could start again the production process in the cold spray tower.
