A steeper gradient needed to be formed, so that the water could run off freely without any obstructions.
The sub-base was chiselled in a semi-circular shape to give a good surface key, and the surface was saturated with water prior to repair being carried out. As there was a sub-base temperature of 22°C and an air temperature of 24°C, the product setting process would have been quite fast. So it was decided to use SET CONTROL to retard the setting time of the MORTAR MIX. For each sachet of SET CONTROL that is added, it retards the setting by approximately 20 minutes. It was decided to add one sachet per 25 kg bag which would give the additional working time required in the hot weather and allow for the MORTAR MIX to be laid to the required profiles.
The job was completed after a total of 4 hours and regular operation of the petrol pump system could be resumed.
