The district of Trier-Saarburg with the support of the Federal State Rheinland-Pfalz invested a total budget of nearly 15 million Euros for the new construction of the Stefan-Andres high school including a cafeteria and an integrated community center.
For this prestige building an architectural competition was held in May 2010. Totally 127 architects submitted their application. The first prize was awarded to the architects Harter + Kanzler of Freiburg. Prize-worthy is also the KORODUR design floor witch was installed there by the local qualified and experienced applicator Günter Schlag GmbH.
For the hallways of the school and the community center a basalt grey, polished decorative screed GRANIDUR 05 was chosen on an area of totally 1.500 m². On the firstly installed cement screed, in middle 8,5 cm thick, grade CT-C30-F5, with floor heating, GRANIDUR 05 was applied in composite, in middle 1,5 cm thick.
Architecturally impressive is also the combination of several GRANIDUR areas with parquet strips. Walls of exposed concrete and precast concrete stairs complete the modern and inspiring overall impression of the Stefan-Andres-Gymnasium.
